As an Anglican College, we are committed to ensuring our College represents a cross-section of society and is not solely a place for those with the means to afford the College fees. The College is committed to making a quality Independent education available to everyone.

Scholarships are offered to students who are currently enrolled at the College as well as those wishing to enter the College and are awarded with the intention of assisting students to maximize their potential. Scholarships are there to assist families with additional expenses incurred in the pursuit of excellence in their child's chosen field. We believe that by offering Scholarships, the College will be honouring and encouraging student excellence in specific fields. Existing families who face difficult times are appropriately supported both pastorally and financially by the College. The College is also prepared to support practising Anglicans who might otherwise be not able to afford an Anglican Education, as well as support the education of Indigenous Australians who are seeking to be part of an Independent Educational experience.

In all circumstances, recipients of both Scholarships and Bursaries are expected to support the College ethos at all times. This forms part of the agreement signed between the parents and the College.

The Dalwood-Wylie Foundation Music Scholarship (The Scholarship) is being established in 2017 to support students from 2018 who excel in both performance and the study of music and who personally make or will make a significant contribution to the life of St Andrew’s Anglican College through music. Funded by the Dalwood-Wylie Foundation along with contributions donated to the College’s Scholarship Fund, The Scholarship’s aim is to make instrumental lessons available to students whose parents are able to provide a St Andrew’s education but not able to fund the additional opportunities that exist in the area of Music.

Two scholarships will be offered and current St Andrew’s students in Years 9, 10 and 11 are eligible to apply, for commencement in the following year. The Scholarship will cover the cost of instrumental music lessons for the period of one school year along with the Music levy charge and the instrument hire if required.  Students can reapply to continue The Scholarship for no more than two consecutive years.  In the event that both of The Scholarships have not been allocated, students in Years 10, 11 or 12 can apply for an immediate start and will be covered for the remainder of the school year.

Applications for The Scholarship are open to any students whether full fee paying or on existing scholarship or bursary arrangements.

Recipients of The Dalwood-Wylie Foundation Music Scholarship will be male or female students entering Year 10, 11 or 12 who have displayed excellent aptitude and attitude towards their Music Studies. The students should have a proven desire to be actively involved in school life through participation in extra-curricular and service activities and show a passion in the study of Music. The students will recognise that their commitment will be ongoing through term of The Scholarship and that they will participate in additional ensembles and performances in addition to lessons, as appropriate.

The parents/carers will be contributing and supportive members of the College Community and will complete confidential financial statements prior to the Scholarship being awarded. The parents/carers will continue to pay tuition and other fees as required.  The parents will commit to support the student and their involvement in College life in particular with the support of the students’ study of Music.

The College will support the Dalwood-Wylie Foundation Scholarship recipients through their study of Music and in a pastoral way to ensure that the students achieve to the best of their ability. The College will review the Scholarship at the completion of each Term and discuss with the student and parents if the high standard of results and commitment are not ongoing.  In such cases the Scholarship may be terminated at the discretion of the Principal.  The College will also report the student’s progress at the end of each term, to the donor.

There is no fee to apply for this Scholarship and applicants are welcome to apply for other Scholarships on offer if applicable.

Application Process:  Applications are open from Monday 16 October and will close on Monday 27 November at 4pm

A completed Application Form, Financial Declaration Form with covering Letter of Application from the student, must be submitted to the Head of College Development by the due date which will be advertised to families through the Weekly Bulletin to parents and the website.  All applications will be treated in confidentiality.

Applications will each be considered with following taken into account; musical ability and/or potential displayed by the student, level of commitment/enthusiasm for Music displayed by the student, along with financial need.

Consultation will occur between the Director of Co-curricular Music, along with Instrumental Music staff, Immersion Music Staff, Class Teachers and/or Head of House as appropriate.  Confidential conversations may also occur with the Business Manager and Principal.

The applicants will be short listed and invited in for an interview with the Director of Co-curricular Music.

Successful applicants and their parents will be notified by email and then the process of enrolling in Co-curricular Music lessons will begin with the Music Administration staff.

The Wade Institute Scholarship was established in 2011 to support and encourage high achieving students who may not otherwise be able to attend St Andrew’s. The recipient will not be a current student at St Andrew’s.

This scholarship is very generously supported by the Wade Institute, an organisation that works with entrepreneurs to unlock their capacity to perform at their highest level. This Scholarship offers 50% remission of tuition fees to students who would not otherwise be able to afford a St Andrew’s education, for the remainder of their Secondary years, plus all levies charged and co-curricular costs incurred. (Where an individual co-curricular cost is in excess of $500 the student must write a letter to the Principal, asking to participate.)

The recipient of The Wade Institute Scholarship will be a male or female student entering Year 10 in 2018, who has displayed excellent academic results, aptitude and attitude towards his or her Studies. The student may be required to sit an academic test as part of the application process.  The student should have a proven desire to be actively involved in school life through participation in extra-curricular and service activities. The student will recognise that their commitment will be ongoing through their final school years and that they will continue to work to the best of their ability, and be a fine citizen of the St Andrew’s community.

The parents/carers will be contributing and supportive members of the College Community and will complete financial statements prior to the Scholarship being awarded. The parents/carers will pay 50% of the tuition fees and all uniform costs. The parents will commit to support the student and their involvement in College life.

The College will support the Wade Institute Scholarship Recipients in both an academic and pastoral way to ensure that the students achieve to the best of their ability. The College will waive the Registration Fee, the Enrolment Fee and the yearly Family Building Fund Levy.  The College will biannually review the Scholarship and discuss with the student and parents if the high standard of academic results and commitment are not ongoing.  In such cases the Scholarship may be terminated at the discretion of the Principal and the student will not progress to the following year under the Scholarship conditions.  The College will also report the student’s progress annually to the donor.
