Platinum at Music Fest

16 August 2024

partnership

We were very excited to have achieved a Platinum award at the Music Fest competition which is the highest level of achievement!!

Students played thee pieces of repertoire, two of which we have been working on for majority of the year and performed at the Eisteddfod (Eaton’s Hill and Pilatus: Mountain of Dragons) and the other was a set piece as part of the Music Fest competition (Country Club Stomp).

The Symphonic Winds is the College’s largest band ensemble with approximately 50 students from Years 7 to 12. The Symphonic Winds works on a range of repertoire from show tunes to ballads to lyrical works and thoroughly enjoy performing at school and external events under the direction of Ms Rachel Twiggs. We are looking forward to competing more in 2025 at the QLD Youth Music Awards, Sunshine Coast Junior Eisteddfod, Music Fest competition and many other performances at the college. Mr Hardy has a vision for the students from Year 7 to 12 to have an inherent passion for music and it is so good to see the Year 11 and 12 students in this group support the younger students and demonstrate this love of performing. The future of music at St Andrew’s sounds incredibly bright!

Music Fest is hosted across various venues in Brisbane, Queensland, is a celebration of excellence in performance and education. Since 2020, it has been owned by the Brass Music Specialists, providing a platform for Primary and Secondary students to showcase their talents in a supportive concert environment.
