In a bid to empower students with diverse aspirations, St Andrew's Anglican College has proudly introduced its new initiative – ‘Future Ambitions’. This innovative program aims to support students in achieving their pathway goals, which may extend beyond the confines of the traditional school curriculum.

Recognizing that success takes various forms, the launch of Future Ambitions invited students to apply in five distinct categories:

Targeted at supporting students whose show dedication and a commitment to excellence in their chosen pathway, the program aligns with the College’s inclusive school culture and deliberately shies away from the term ‘elite’. The emphasis of the program is on recognising and nurturing the potential in every student, regardless of their chosen pathway and is tailored to individual needs, ensuring they receive the support they need to thrive.

To apply, students complete a rigourous application process, that ensures they are suited and committed to high expectations of the program. This includes providing evidence of a demonstrated ongoing commitment (6 months plus) and a high degree of competency and motivation by uploading supporting evidence, identifying short and long term goals and articulating how the program can help achieve these goals.

In its inaugural year, the unique program currently supports 27 students across all categories, reflecting the diverse interests and aspirations within the student body.

Two students in the entrepreneurship category have already taken their business to new heights using the power of networking and mentoring. Through meetings with contacts in the College community to gain valuable insight, they've steadily grown their business. Now, they are ready to pitch to a company on the ASX200.

Other highlights so far this year include:

1. Performance Breathing Australia Series: As part of the program's commitment to holistic development, students engaged in a three-part series conducted by Performance Breathing Australia. This series focused on the importance of breathwork techniques in enhancing physical and mental performance, providing students with invaluable tools for managing stress and optimizing their performance in various aspects of life.

2. Nutrition Workshop with Dr. Rachael Thurecht: In collaboration with the University of the Sunshine Coast, Future Ambitions hosted a nutrition workshop led by Dr. Rachael Thurecht. Students gained insights into the role of nutrition in supporting overall health and well-being, learning practical strategies for fuelling their bodies and minds for success.

3. Social Media Marketing Presentation by Mortgage Choice's Gordan Macvicar: In today's digital age, social media marketing skills are invaluable for aspiring entrepreneurs and all students alike. Future Ambitions welcomed Gordan Macvicar from Mortgage Choice for an insightful presentation on social media marketing strategies. Students learned about the power of digital platforms in building brands and connecting with audiences, gaining practical tips for leveraging social media effectively in their future endeavours.

Additionally, Future Ambitions students had the privilege of attending the recent launch of the business breakfast series at Sunshine Beach Surf Lifesaving Club. This series aims to strengthen St Andrews' partnerships with local businesses and industry to support the academic endeavours of our students by exposing them to real-world scenarios, networking opportunities, and emphasizing the value of education beyond the classroom.
