Enriching Experiences
Our library strives to create an environment in which students are provided with positive and enriching experiences that enable them to develop independent research and lifelong learning skills, and an appreciation for literature.
The Library is located in our purpose-built Learning Hub in the centre of the College campus. A strength of the St Andrew’s reading program is the value placed on the Library. At a time when many schools are downsizing libraries and reducing library staff numbers, our College employs two qualified teacher librarians.
From the beginning of Prep, all Primary students attend weekly library classes and borrow from a well-resourced print collection.
Reading opportunities continue as students move into their Secondary years, with St Andrew’s being one of the few schools in the State to offer a timetabled reading lesson for students in Years 7 to 9. Supported by research that links reading with academic success, during these lessons students conduct reading reflections and set their own reading goals throughout each year.
The only thing that you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library.
