Here at St Andrew's we are committed to enabling our students to move confidently into their digital futures.
Over the past few weeks, the College has outlined our digital wellbeing expectations of our students, with regard to their use of digital technology, both on their phones and on their laptops.
A positive use of this technology is always encouraged and the introduction of BorrowBox is one of these, allowing students to be positive contributors to their digital space.
With BorrowBox, students and teachers can borrow from the Library, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Recognised as the Number 1 Library download platform in the world, BorrowBox is unique because it enables students and staff to download eBooks and eAudiobooks via digital loans. BorrowBox can be used online via the BorrowBox app, available through Apple iOS and Google Android devices. Shortly, it will also be accessible through our Digital Library portal, to be used on laptops.
Students will be able to download digital books to read for pleasure, wherever they are. Teachers will be able to use eAudiobooks and eBooks to enhance classroom instruction of their novel studies, by being able to read or listen together. Students with reading challenges will also be able to access eAudiobooks that can enhance their literacy skills and give them equitable access to texts relevant to their age and year level.
From Years 4 to 12, students can enter the BorrowBox app or, shortly, online through the Digital Library with their St Andrew’s logon and password that they would use to log on to their computer or iPad. All they need to do then is select the relevant library - St Andrew’s Anglican College Primary, Middle or Senior - and look for their preferred digital format. Parents of students in Prep to Year 3 can contact their child’s classroom teacher to access their child’s username and password.
Presently, we have a limited number of eAudiobooks, as we would appreciate your suggestions – either eBook or eAudiobooks – that would enhance your child’s reading or listening pleasure. Parents or students wishing to suggest eBooks or eAudiobooks to be added to BorrowBox should feel free to contact the Library Staff via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by visiting the Library Front Desk with their suggestions.
